ESPECIALLY MYSPACE. THERE IS ALWAYS A BANNER ON THE VERY TOP SAYING SHOOT THE DUCK AND WIN!!!! WHEN ALL IT DOES IS TRICK YOU INTO CLICKING ON THE BANNER AND FILLING OUT SURVEYS THAT TAKE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION AND USE IT TO ADVERTISE TO YOU THROUGH EMAIL AND PHONE, YOU ACTUALLY DON'T WIN ANYTHING THEY SAY YOU ARE GOING TO WIN. I REMEMBER THE FREE IPOD AGES, WHO HAS EVER WON A FREE IPOD FROM MYSPACE? TELL ME PLEASE IT WOULD HELP ME BELIEVE NOT EVERYTHING IS FAKE ADVERTISING. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH SUCH A THING ON A HUGE SITE BUT THE MINUTE U FALSE ADVERTISE ANYWHERE ELSE UR BAGGED AND TAGGED. NO WONDER THE ECONOMY IS DOING BAD, THEY LET TOO MANY PEOPLE SLIDE ONLINE JUST BECAUSE IT IS THE WEB. HELL IF THEY CAN FIND HACKERS THEY CAN EASILY FIND THE OWNER OF THE SITE TRICKING PEOPLE INTO CLICKING ON BANNERS TO GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFO.WHY DO WEBSITES GET AWAY WITH FALSE ADS?
what you are referring to is known as CPA marketing. Places like myspace and yahoo amongst others, have these ads where they ask for your opinion and promise a reward.
For example: Do you think obama is a good president click yes or no and win a plasma tv.
You are then asked to input your personal information and then the ';fun'; begins.
They are a pain but many are making money with it.
The way they get away with it, is that you actually can get a free item provided you fulfill all the requirements. The effort is not worth it however.
