Truee..or...false? (h.i.c.)?

is the haunting in CT really based on a true story? I took notes while watching the movie (alright i'll admitt im a geek..but a curious geek.) and it said it took place in i think goatsword ct, but when i looked it up i didnt see anything about any place called goatsword ct, it also said the name of the funeral place was aickman mortuary or something and i looked that up but there were no newspaper articles or anything... it only showed all these haunting in ct ad things. it said it took place in the 1980's i didnt really look into that but. i cant find anything.. is it true, and if so whats the evidence?Truee..or...false? (h.i.c.)?
OK...the story is based in fact. I remember seeing a documentary on it years ago...but a lot of the ';happenings'; are most likely false.

If you look up ';the truth behind haunting in Connecticut';, you'll find more in depth information. http://kingstonwhigstandard.com/ArticleD鈥?/a> and

http://www.kids-in-mind.com/h/hauntingin鈥?/a> are two links that came up immediately when I typed that in the search engine. I hadn't even realized the movie was loosely based on that story until I read an article on Yahoo News recently where they interviewed the new owner about concerns that the house would be bombarded with media and tourists.

I don't think they gave the actual city or the actual name of the mortuary/home because of what happened to the Amityville house and what happened to the wooded area where ';Blair Witch'; were filmed. Fans of these movies wanted an up close look and wrought havoc. Pieces of the actual Amityville house were being stripped away and if I remember correctly, the house had to be moved to a hidden location. My guess is, you couldn't find information because they made up the location and the name of the house from the time it was a mortuary.

But, the basis of the story is true. I haven't seen it, but I'm sure that Hollywood probably glamourized it with a ton of cheesy special effects and false ';reported'; happenings just to sell more tickets to the movie.Truee..or...false? (h.i.c.)?
Usually when things like this are ';based off of a true story,'; they have only a few bits that are really anything factual. For example: The movie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's ';based off of a true story.'; When in reality, the events it's based off of took place out of texas, with no chainsaw, and a guy named ed gein.

so, yeah...
