Churches are allowed to advocate issues but not candidates. That is unless the candidate is a Democrat. Is a 501(c)(3) church that's politically active bearing false witness on documents it submits to the IRS?

501C-3 submits to the rule of another Almighty (The State,) and thus denies the True mighty one YAHOSHUA.
Why should only atheists and socialists

be allowed to have free speech?
Yes. Yes they are.
I suppose it depends on how you define political active. If you use the legal definition of ';attempting to influence the outcome of an election'; than any politically active church is certainly bearing false witness to the IRS.

If you instead use the colloquial definition of ';having an impact on political matters'; then it is possible for a church to be politically active while still remaining a legitimate 501(c)(3). For example, they're allowed to influence legislation and candidates, but they cannot tell voters whom to vote for.
Right on.
Most definitely. The only thing a church should do as far as being political is encouraging its members to do their civic duty and vote.
Maybe lies are what they're supposed to render unto Caesar? Stop being so judgemental!

(((Dude)))
Perhaps, but there is no command against bearing false witness on oneself.
Not necessarily. Some political activity is allowed.
Yes - they are not to endorse political parties or candidates and still maintain their non-profit status.

I asked a similar question last week and was declared racist because my question mentioned Obama. I guess I should have been more general stating many churches like to endorse specific political figures and they cover all races and parties. Go figure.
