bronze age?True or False? The archaeological time period with the first appearance of fortified cities is named the ?
True.

Because it's more complexe than it seems:

-first, there has to be cities or at least a city

-it must be fortified with a hard material. Either stones, rocks, cutted stones or bricks.

This means there has to be an organised society and a wealthy and populus enough group to engage in the construction. By wealthy, I mean either by money means or by material owning.

Also, it requires tools and skills to make walls.

I note in the late bronze age, Mycenae and Troy has being wealthy, organized and fortified at least a bit. Mycenae had a palace. It depends on whether oyu think fortified is a walla all-around or a kind of castle or something counts. Troy did had a stronghold and many ';canals'; used to form a kind of water barrier. Somewhere between -1300 to -1190. Troy did had less effective defenses earlier.

Also, way earlier, Egypt did made big stuff with bricks, before using stones. So, I guess Bronze age is the answer.
