lt probably is......
Beware of websites that ask for your password or to creat a password.
Never use a password that you use for your e-mail or banking/financial accounts such as e-Bay or on-line credit cards and keep track of passwords for different accounts in a notebook in your desk with the name of the program you are with.How to differentiate between false and true websites?
Well, I don't quite know what you mean by false websites.
If you are worried about ';phishing'; attempts, where people make fake websites that pretend to be legitimate ones and try to trick you into giving your password or credit card number, the Firefox web browser can detect them and warn you. Also, Norton has a tool (not free) that will install and protect you from those sites as well.
Also, always check the address of the web page to make sure it's actually the real page, like ebay.com and not ebay-sales.ccHow to differentiate between false and true websites?
My anti-virus shows all results with a tick for OK, question mark for beware and X for don't go there.
Check the certificate.
well all websites are ';real.';
However, if you mean which website is ';truthful'; like an ad or a pop up, there is a simple way.
1. Did they post a way to contact them on the website?
Is there an email or number that you can call for help?
2.Look at the URL (address bar). Like on Myspace.com when you think that there is something fishy about the log in page, you just look at the address bar. Does it say Myspace.com (or whatever site you are on)?
3. Another crucial detail about the truthfulness of a website is also there name.
Like example.com. if the name (address bar) is
hhhaasiriehrlkgnur4aeugth20%20%20%/gas鈥?br>
(which believe me, i have seen this before) then it is probably not a ';straight on URL,'; its a link that takes you to another site that takes you to another site which has a link.....etc.
also, look at the quality of the home page. I know looks arent everything, but some sites just look like they have something up their sleeve.
I hope i answered your question :)
